Burgaski Svoboden Universitet (Burgas Free University – BFU)

is a modern higher education institution founded in 1991 and located in Burgas, on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. The university offers a broad academic portfolio including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programmes and has educated more than 20,000 graduates. BFU is a member of the European University Association and is fully accredited by the national authorities, ensuring high academic standards and international recognition.

BFU has a strong institutional focus on innovation, digital transformation, and e-learning. Since 1998, it has hosted the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Culture of Peace, reflecting its long-term engagement with civic education, democratic values, and social responsibility. The university actively promotes the use of ICT in higher education and has developed advanced expertise in blended and digital learning methodologies.

As coordinator of the SPIN OVER project, BFU is responsible for the strategic, administrative, and financial management of the partnership, ensuring coherence, quality, and alignment with Erasmus+ priorities.
